PRESS RELEASE: Würm, February 5, 2026 – The approval process (plan approval procedure) for the “dewatering, exploration, and trial operation” project of Deutsche Flussspat GmbH has reached another important milestone. On February 5, 2026, the public hearing took place at Würmtalhalle and was chaired by the State Office for Geology, Raw Materials and Mining (LGRB), the authority responsible for granting approval.

The public hearing is a legally required component of the plan approval procedure and serves as a structured, technical forum to discuss matters relevant to the process, with participation from the competent authorities and public stakeholders, as well as interested observers.

During the hearing, the comments and questions submitted in response to the documents that were publicly displayed last October were discussed in detail. The professional exchange among all participants was factual, constructive, and solution-oriented.

The public hearing is not only an important milestone for our project but also a key platform for communication with everyone who wishes to share comments, criticism, or positive feedback. We want to understand where concerns lie so that we can address them in our planning whenever possible. I hope we were able to convey this commitment to the participants of the hearing. We are convinced that the Käfersteige mine, believed to be Europe’s largest fluorspar deposit, can make a valuable contribution to regional value creation and supply security.” explains Simon Bodensteiner, Managing Director of Deutsche Flussspat GmbH.

Deutsche Flussspat GmbH thereby reaffirms that openness and transparency in its dialogue with all stakeholders are among its core principles.
